William was a dedicated supporter of Scunthorpe United football team for most of his life and would travel to far and beyond to watch them play.
In october 2007 William was sadly diagnosed with cancer, after 10 couragous months of fighting with this disese William sadly lost his battle.
Grandad you will be forever missed by all your family, love to you in the skies above.
Candles are a gift of light,
A tiny sun, a bit of star.
No other dancer in the night
Dances with such sheer delight,
Little souls serene and bright,
Each a glimpse of what we are
Shining innocent and pure
When all the flowers have faded
And the people have all gone
You will not be forgotten
Your memory lives on
Your love it will surround me
You always will be near
Because you are my Grandad
And I'll always hold you dear
A million times we've needed you
A million times we've cried
If love alone could've saved you
You would have never died
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a place
No one else could ever fill
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone
Part of us went with you
The day God took you home.
A heart of gold stopped beating
Two shining eyes at rest
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.
God knows you had to leave us
But you did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day he took you home.
To some you are forgotten
To others just part of the past
But to us who loved and lost you
The memory will always last
Don't think of him as gone away, his journey's just begun
life holds so many facets this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting, from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.
And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched
for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.
